Although the Eee PC 1000H keyboard is already slightly above 90 of the size of a regular-sized keyboard, for persons like me who have slightly bigger hands and slightly longer fingers, it s kind of  inevitable to have a crampy feeling when typing.. and also experience havoc on my typing flow when my thumb slightly grazes the touch pad.   same feeling even with the new Elantech drivers installed.

But I still like my Eee PC and tried to explore workarounds to minimize typing problems with the sensitive multi-touchpad.  These are some workarounds which I gathered from other forums:

1 Customize Elantech Smart Pad Options to Disable when keying for moderate typing

- double click touchpad icon in quick launch bar lower right hand side of screen

- click Elantech tab upper right hand side of window

- click Tapping option at left side of window

- tick the box, Disable when keying

- click Yes to close options window

2 Temporarily Disable Touchpad when I really need to type very fast to beat a schedule :

-  double click touchpad icon in quick launch bar lower right hand side of screen

-  click Elantech tab upper right hand side of window

-   click Stop device, then OK to finish

in this case, I attach also a USB mouse to aid in scrolling etc. this means typing will be

on  my table. .  not anymore on my lap    :-

Enabling the touchpad again can be done later by similar steps above, if desired.

3 By trial and error, I tried to find a better but still comfortable position of my hands when typing.. Dont know if it will work for others, but I try to rest my hands more and as far as possible at the edge of the keyboard. . finding a comfortable position may take time to find.
